Revolutionizing personnel transport management with a light-asset platform designed to optimize daily operations, streamline scheduling, and provide real-time visibility.

Role

Product Designer

Industry

Transportation, shuttle service, tech

Duration

6 months

Stage 1. Project initiation & research

Launched the project with a focus on understanding the requirements for a personnel transport solution operating under a light-asset model. Conducted in-depth research into the challenges faced by current systems, such as inefficient scheduling, lack of real-time operational visibility, and route optimization issues. Defined the scope for a platform that connects service providers and clients, emphasizing streamlined operations without owning vehicles or heavy infrastructure.

Stage 2. Design strategy

Outlined a strategic framework for the platform, prioritizing flexibility to accommodate various stakeholders, including clients, third-party fleet providers, and operations teams. Developed a modular design that supported key functionalities like scheduling, trip history, real-time monitoring, and occupancy tracking. Mapped a phased rollout plan with immediate wins to drive adoption while preparing for advanced features to enhance scalability.

Stage 3. Prototype development

Developed low-fidelity wireframes to demonstrate core functionalities, emphasizing usability and streamlined workflows. Progressed to high-fidelity prototypes that illustrated key modules, such as a dynamic scheduling interface and a real-time fleet dashboard.

Stage 4. User testing & iterations

Conducted usability tests with a range of stakeholders (drivers, fleet partners, and administrative staff) to gather feedback on system clarity and task completion. Identified areas for improvement, such as refining the trip history layout and improving the occupancy report interface. Iterated on the prototypes based on user input, ensuring every feature met real-world operational needs while maintaining an easy-to-use, asset-light approach.

Stage 5. Implementation & launch support

Collaborated with developers to translate final designs into a functional platform, providing detailed handoff documentation and design specifications. Assisted in the initial rollout, guiding operations teams through the new scheduling and monitoring features. Monitored early user engagement and offered ongoing support to address any adjustments, ensuring the platform delivered immediate value and set the stage for future enhancements.

Outcomes

The finalized light-asset platform transformed personnel transport management by offering an efficient, end-to-end solution without requiring direct ownership of transport assets. Initial user feedback highlighted its intuitive design, real-time data integration, and resource-efficient operation. The project underscored expertise in designing scalable, user-centric solutions tailored to modern operational demands.
